Most of the 192 Member States of the United Nations have a Permanent Mission to the United Nations.
A Permanent Mission is a diplomatic "home" near UN Headquarters offices in New York, Geneva and Vienna. From these Missions, countries can conduct their business at the UN, preparing statements for UN meetings, hosting visitors, and engaging in mulitlateral diplomacy. Mulitlateral diplomacy involves Governments working towards the collective interest of the community of nations as a whole, while maintaining their own national interest.
