Harmony Day at University of Canberra

On the 23 of April, the UNIC Canberra Information Officer and Information Assistant were invited to the University of Canberra to celebrate Harmony Day with the International Relations students.

While at the University, they gave a presentation on how to get a job at the UN, a special request from the students, who were keen to find out what qualifications were needed, what languages were good to study, the appropriate type of work experience and the types of positions and opportunities available at the UN.

All students expressed an interest in working for the United Nations, acknowledging that the Organisation was one of the key facilitators of world peace and security, and seemed a wonderful environment to work within.

The UNIC staff then were escorted to the central square of the University to visit other Harmony Day celebrations, displays, and food and information stalls.

Speaking to the students during the lunch hour it was obvious that the students were dedicated to the key themes of Harmony Day and the United Nations Information Centre participants were also delighted to take part in the day.
