The
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Multi Country Office based in Fiji
today announces its newly re-designed website, http://www.undp.org.fj
“UNDP is based on the principles of
accountability and transparency and one way of showing how the organization
intends to move the Pacific forward is to have an effective and up to date
website,” the UNDP Resident Representative a.i (acting), Mr Toily Kurbanov
said.
People turn to the Internet as their first
source of information and having a website is a much cost-effective way of
reaching out to our partners in Governments, Non Government Organizations, the
Media, donors and the general Pacific public.
“The website is a great resource tool where information
on UNDP’s work in Fiji and the nine other countries (Federated States of
Micronesia, Kiribati, Republic of Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Solomon
Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu) is readily available. The UNDP website has
been re-designed to allow people to easily find their way through our projects
in the region,” Mr Kurbanov said.
As in the past before websites, people would turn to the
traditional forms of printed publication or the good old radio and television
for information however the internet has proven to be more far reaching at just
a click of the button.
UNDP Fiji serves Fiji and the nine
countries in the broad areas of Good Governance and Human Rights, Poverty
Reduction and the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals, Crisis
Prevention and Recovery and Environmental Sustainability.
