Millenium Development Goals

15/03/2010
Preparations for the Summit on the MDGs (to be held in New York on 20-22 September) officially started this month, when the General Assembly President started Government consultations on 4 March. Negotiations on an agreed action agenda for 2011-2015, to be adopted at the Summit, are scheduled to start in mid-April.

The Secretary-General presented his report, "Keeping the Promise" to Member States and the press in New York on 16 March. It identifies success factors and lessons learnt, highlight gaps, challenges and opportunities, and lays out specific recommendations for action to boost progress towards the MDGs over the remaining five years.

Attached are a press release on the report, the report, a fact sheet on the Summit and an overview of the latest MDG statistics and country progress examples.
