The
United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) offers graduate and
post-graduate students the opportunity to undertake an internship at the
Centre.
The programme aims to help students
acquire practical experience to complement their studies, as well as to
give exposure to the work of the United Nations.
Qualifications
in communications would be of most interest to UNIC. A background in
international relations would also be of value.
During
the internship, every attempt is made to match the interest of the
intern with the work of the UN.
The duration of
the internship programme is two months. However, interns are NOT
expected to undertake the internship on a full-time basis. To qualify,
he/she must have at least completed one year of their under-graduate
degree.
UNIC does not accept secondary school
students.
To apply for an internship position
with UNIC, please send a brief cover letter outlining your relevant
interests and a copy of your curriculum vitae by email to
unic.canberra@unic.org with the subject heading of "Internship
application" or post it to:

While all efforts are made to
arrange an internship during a suitable time for the applicant the
actual internship start and finish dates vary on a case by case basis.
Due to the large number of internship applications received, we will
keep your application on record for the duration of one month and will
only contact successful candidates. You are welcome to re-apply if you
do not hear from us within that period.
Thank you for your
understanding and wish you all the best in your future endeavours.
